Spirituality & Prayer

“Our role in life is to bring the light of our own souls to the dim places around us.”Joan D. Chittister OSB

Spirituality is about our personal search for the sacred. It gives us a sense of inter-connectedness with all living creatures and a greater awareness of our true purpose and meaning of life. Simple practices such as silence, listening, reflection, meditation and gratitude can become part of a vibrant spirituality that can infuse everyday life. Some would define spirituality as those activities which renew, lift up, comfort, heal and inspire both ourselves and those with whom we engage.

Creative Expression

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”Thomas Merton

Similar to spiritual growth, the primary focus in Creative Expression is on the path rather than the end result. These programs seek to engage artistic energies and evoke expression as a result of a mindful presence, and connectedness to the world around us. Whether the expression is in writing, meditating, poetry, crafts, singing, or walking in nature, creativity can serve as as a liberating, self-attuning path to experiencing the present moment to its fullest.

Community & Justice

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Our world needs us! People who desire change are those who seek peace, engage in life-long learning, and reflect on life experiences,—those who desire deeper relationships, care for our earth, and advocate against social injustice and the economic inequities in society. These are people who live with intention and commitment. They join others in action creating “the ripples” that lead to change for the betterment of all.

Personal & Family Growth

“To be vital, awake, aware,
in all areas of our lives, is the task
that is never accomplished,
but remains the goal.”Brother David Steindl-Rast

Throughout the seasons of our lives, we traverse a landscape with ongoing challenges. The cultural pressures that exist around us influence who we are and the paths we choose. We face these pressures as individuals, as families, and as communities. The programs presented in this area address how to cope with and learn from our experiences. By drawing on our individual place of spirit we can gain insight into how life’s challenges and obstacles are an opportunity for awareness, self-compassion and growth.
